News and Notes
I’m looking forward to a great year of working with both you and your 3rd grader. We are going to have a fun, fast, and full year of learning here on Leader Island!
I wanted to let you know a little bit about myself as we start this year. This is my third year here at Kellybrook teaching 3rd grade. I attended Missouri State University where I received my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. After college, I was a paraprofessional working with special education in Ozark, Missouri for one year. I moved to Kansas City upon receiving the opportunity to teach here at Kellybrook. Currently, I am also pursuing my Masters of Education in Literacy online through Missouri State and will graduate this spring! I truly consider myself lucky to be able to be a part of this wonderful district, school, and staff at Kellybrook!
This 2016-2017 school year is going to be an exciting year for your 3rd grader. We will be learning about the 7 Habits as we explore the traits to be a great leader. These habits will be incorporated across our curriculum. Third grade is a huge year for your child academically, but also learning the importance of responsibility, problem-solving, and becoming more independent. I’m excited to see how your child will transform from 2nd graders into independent and smart 4th graders by the end of the year!
Mark your calendars! We will dive more into our class information on PIE (Parent Information) Night on Aug. 25. In the meantime, you can always check my website for important dates and information. Please feel free to get ahold of me by either email or phone during school hours. I’m excited to begin this school year with you and your child!
